Slip Public Deposited
An obsolete word used to indicate counterfeit money.
Grosart, in his edition of the works of Robert Greene (x. 260), under the year 1592, quotes: "He went and got him a certaine slips, which are couuterfeyt peeces of mony being brasse, and couered oner with siluer, which the common people call slips."
