  • A silver coin introduced by the Kings of Spain for Naples and Sicily in the thirteenth century, and later copied by Charles V of France (1364-1380) for Dauphiny. It receives its name from the large crown on the obverse. See Heiss (PL 116, 2; 145, 12), etc.
