Sterling Público Deposited
A name frequently given to the silver Penny of Scotland. This type was introduced by David I (1124-1153), and was similar in many respects to the contemporary English Penny of Stephen. The term was in use until the middle of the thirteenth century; in the reign of Alexander III (1249-1292) the silver coins are usually referred to as Pennies, a designation subsequently adhered to.
