A gold coin of Armenia, corresponding to the Dinar (q.v.). The name appears to be applied to such pieces as have native inscriptions, the coins struck by the Georgians, Arabs, etc., receiving the name of Solidus or Byzant. See Langlois, Numismatiques de L'Armenie,1855
