Tithing Penny Öffentlichkeit Deposited
This is not an actual coin but the name given to a small duty formerly paid by manorial tenants to the lord, and also a payment made by lords of manors at the hundred court.
Edward Phillips, in A New World of Words, or General Dictionary , 1706, has : "Teding-, Tething-, or Tithing-Penny, a Tax or Allowance formerly paid to the Sheriff from every Tithing, towards the Charge of Keeping Courts."
