Cunagium Öffentlichkeit Deposited

Definition
  • According to Du Cange this implies tributum pro impressione typi ex- solvendum. Ruding (ii. 256) states that in 1422, Henry Somer, the keeper of the dies in the Tower of London, was com- manded by writ to deliver cunagia for the mints in this town. He adds: " This, I presume, had been paid to the warden of the mint in the Tower, and was therefore to be returned by him to the treasurer of the mint, to which it properly belonged. "
