  • " Lamp hanging money, " the Chinese name for new year's medals or coins, which were generally heavier than the regular issues, and had often times special inscriptions on them. These were distributed among the palace attendants. A popular slang name for these pieces was Huang kai-tsu, " yellow covers. "
