Kopfstuck Publique Deposited
A popular name for any coin which exhibits the head or bust of some ruler, and in this respect the same as Teston (q.v.). The designation is, how- ever, usually applied to the Austrian pieces of twenty Kreuzer or five Batzen, to the Danish twenty Skilling pieces, and to the Bavarian silver coins of twenty-four Kreu- zer.
In Gueldres, Loos, and the Low Coun- tries in general, the words Kopje, Kopken, and Kopfchen are used to describe small Deniers which have a head as a prominent feature. See Flinderke and Copetum.
