• A name given to the copper two and one half Cash piece of Mysore, by Tipu Sultan, in 1792, after the adoption of his new system of reckoning. This sys- tem was begun in 1786, and was based on the Muludi, i.e., dating from the birth of the Prophet. The name of the coin in Arabic means the Polestar.

  Marsden (ii. 725) translates it as Katib.
