Katzengulden Public Deposited

Definition
  • A nickname given to the early silver coins of Ueberlingen in the Duchy of Suabia. The armorial bearings consist of a silver lion on a red field, and this design when figured on the coinage resembled a cat. A mint was established here during the thirteenth century.
