Definition
  • A nickname given to a variety of the Gros Blanc struck by John II of France (1350-1 364). It was so called from the name of the master of the royal mint. See Hoffman (xx. 35, 36).

    The type was copied by Amedeo VI of Savoy, and known as Pelavillano.
