  • was the name by which the electrum Staters and Ilectes of Phocaea were generally known to the ancients. They are frequently men- tioned in inscriptions and in these in- stances we probably must also include the Bectes of Mytilene which were sufficiently similar to those of Phocaea to allow them to be classed as one with the former.
