Pistole 上市 Deposited

定義
  • A gold coin, sometimes called the Twelve-Pound Piece, struck by Wil- liam III of England, for Scotland, in 1701. Its weight is one hundred and six grains, and there is a corresponding half.

These coins were struck from gold sent over from the Colony of Darien, in a vessel called the '"Rising Sun." The name of the ship is commemorated by the device, under the King's bust, of a sun rising from the sea.

There is also a gold pistole in the Irish series of 1642 called Inchquin Money (q.v.). It has 4 dwtt. 7 Git. stamped on it.
