Pistolet Publique Deposited
A small Pistole. The term is applied to the Scudo d'Oro of Francisco III of Montef errato ; to the gold issues of Herman Thierry, Seigneur of Batenbourg (1573-1612), etc. See also Ecu Pistolet.
A proclamation of Elizabeth of October 9, 1560, states that "Pistolets, then valued at six shillings and two pence, shall go for five shillings and ten pence." See Ruding (i. 338).
