Tremissis Publique Deposited
A gold coin of the Merovingians, dating back to the seventh century. It is practically of the same weight and value as the Byzantine Triens. It was copied at Beneventum, etc. In the Byzantine Empire it was only another name for the Triens or Trimisium (q.v.)
