Definition

• A billon coin of Scotland, issued in 1614 after James VI had become King of England. It was of the value of two Pence. The word is a corruption of Tournois.

  The Turners of the third coinage of Charles I were so extensively counterfeited that a proclamation was issued by Charles II in 1661 against the forgeries.
