Definition

• Raised blebs, from cavitations in the mold in which something was cast. Their presence on tin, pewter, or lead coins--or on porous copper coins--is grounds for suspicion that the pieces were cast counterfeits rather than struck. They most often occur at letters, numerals, or fine details of devices, rather than in fields.
