French colonial copper sol or 12 Deniers coin, counter-stamped RF (1793) for Guadeloupe, and thereafter valued throughout the Caribbean at 3 Sols 9 Deniers = 2 1/4 Pence = 1/4 Bitt = 1/4 Escalin = 1 1/2 Stampees = 1 1/2 Doggs. Named after Gov. Georges Henri Victor Collot, who signed the proclamation authorizing their issue, 10/2/1793. Pridmore III, pp. 228, 339-40.
