1. [Heraldry] A tiny cross, usually Greek (equal-armed) and without ornamented arms. Herein found mostly as punctuation in legends. 2. The serif on r. end of crossbar of a 4, as on some coins of 1804 and 1834; "plain 4" coins lack this serif.
