Epithet for any coin omitting a reference to God which had been standard on its predecessors. Examples include the British 1849 florins and Canadian 1911 coins omitting D[ei] G[ratia], 'By the grace of God,' and the federal $10 and $20 of 1907-8 omitting IN GOD WE TRUST.
