Definizione

• After-cast.  Not an original piece, but cast from molds made from a previous piece; may have been made contemporary or cast at a later period. An after-cast from an after-cast would show less and less detail, definition and be somewhat smaller size (because of metal contraction). Each succeeding generation removed from the original would exhibit progressively less sharpness of detail and slightly smaller diameter. The word used in sales literature to disguise, somewhat, the state of being an after-cast is surmoulage. See shrinkage.
