Annealing Distortion Pubblico Deposited

Definizione
  • Annealing Distortion.  A change – actually a melting – of the surface configuration of an object during annealing. Steel dies are susceptible to annealing distortion when the heat of the annealing furnace rises above the melting point of the die's composition. Detail in the die becomes indistinct, sharp edges of lettering and design become rounded. Accurate control of the furnace heat is a must but this was a persistent problem when annealing was done with an open flame.  See heat treating.
