  • Assassination Medal.  A memorial medal issued following the killing of a leader, ruler or president. The Abraham Lincoln Broken Column Medalet is an example and was even called “Assassination Medal” by Philadelphia Mint officials in correspondence. Many of the John F. Kennedy Medals issued after his November 22, 1963 death are of this class of medal.
