  • Bolo.  A medal struck for the christening of an infant in Latin American countries. The medal contains the name of the infant, date of birth, name of parents, date of baptism and sometimes the names of the godparents. Such bolo medals were prevalent in Mexico 1870-1910 and Grove lists 46 such varieties. A broader term is baptismal medal.

    Bonded, Bonding.  Composite multilayer joining of different metals or alloys in sandwich fashion. The center is called the core outside layer(s) the clad metal, or lamina. The layers are bonded hot or cold by roll bonding or explosion bonding. The line observed between the layers is called the boundry. The two metals are bonded physically and are not a chemical bond or alloyed by melting.
