  • Bright Plating.  An enhanced coating by addition of more than one type anode in the electroplating process. This is done to increase the reflectiveness, hardness, wearing qualities and overall appearance of the electroplated surface. Gold is enhanced with silver, silver with rhodium, cadmium or palladium, the later is called nontarnishing silver. The amount of the second metal is as little as .01% to as much as 2%.  See electroplating.
