Broken Collar Pubblico Deposited
- Broken Collar. A mis-struck piece from a coining press in which a portion of the collar has broken away allowing the metal to flow outside the intended circumference. The mis-struck piece is malformed where the collar was missing and it usually, but not always, shows reeding on the remainder of the edge (if struck with reeded collar). If the entire collar breaks away the piece will be broadstruck.. Compare railroad rim.
