Cap Badge Öffentlichkeit Deposited
- Cap Badge. An insignia, a medallic item with a device on the reverse to attache it to headgear. It is always larger than one inch (it is a pin if smaller); it is often of heraldic shape and always of emblematic design. The attachment device can be of many types, as a post screw and bolt, stem and clasp, straight pin (called an acus); one of the earliest was two loops, one above the other with a cotter pin run through the loops. If there is a single bolt, often there is a projection point somewhere to keep the piece from rotating as most badges have vertical and horizontal axis and require always being in an upright position. Another name for cap badge is the French word enseigne.
