Définition

• Castaing Machine.  An edge treating machine which applies a groove to the edge of coinage blanks, usually with ornamentation, as engrailment, or lettering. It was invented in 1685 by Jean Castaing, hence the name.  See canneluring machine, edge, engrailment.
