Change of Relief Público Deposited
- Change of Relief. By adjusting the pivots on a reducing machine the amount or height of relief may be increased or decreased. Die-engraving pantographs built in the 20th century have this capability. While previous pantographs could have done this, it was to the creative genius of Victor Janvier that we attribute this innovation. Janvier purposely built this feature into his pantographs. His machines could also change the die camber, a flat model could be engraved with a slight doming in the die, so the struck piece could be higher at the edges and slightly lower in the center (protecting the design, as for a circulating coin with a high rim).
