Definition

• Collar Crack.  A fissure on the inside wall of a collar. Such collar crack is somewhat difficult to detect in struck pieces, particularly if the struck piece is reeded. Should the collar continue in use long enough it is possible the crack will lengthen, deepen, and ultimately, break away. See collar break.
