Cracked Planchet Öffentlichkeit Deposited
- Cracked Planchet. A crevice in a blank – due to poor alloy mix, blanking error or mishandling – prior to being struck into a coin or medal. After the piece is struck the line may still be visible, or it may be folded or impressed into the design. May be removed by CHASING. If the crack is severe enough it may cause the blank to have a dull sound when struck on the edge, or may fail the ring test completely and be a dumb blank.1978- (007)-9.3
