Decorating Tool Público Deposited

Definición
  • Decorating Tool.  A puncheon with a design on the end for ornamenting metal objects. The designs are types of shading, dots, rosettes, diamonds, crosses, doodads. The puncheons are made of hard tool steel and are often used with chasing tools to give texture to a metal surface. The shank of the punches are often made square to be held in the fingers slightly above a soft metal surface while the top is tapped with a chasing hammer. Indian jewelry is a typical object decorated with such tools. They replace line engraving where the same element is used over and over again in the design.  See punch, puncheon.
