  • Denazified.  German medals and decorations awarded during the period of the Third Reign (1931-45) which later the German Federal Republic has permitted to be worn provided they do not show a swastika. Thus the award medals of this period have been redesigned and replaced. The Iron Cross, as well as other decorations, has oak leaves replacing the Nazi swastika. The Olympic Committee demanded the Germans remove the swastika from several of the 1936 Olympic medals; like the decorations these German medals exist in both varieties.
