Device Punch Public Deposited
- Device Punch. A partial hub; the principal design in raised relief for sinking a die; a reduction punch. A device punch is all the central design but none of the lettering or other ornamentation. It is of hardened steel and cameo or raised relief (like the ultimate struck piece itself). It can be made from a matrix or engraved in a softened state then heat treated for hardening. See hubbing; punch, puncheon.
