Die Scratch Pubblico Deposited

Definizione
  • Die Scratch.  Any furrow in the surface of a die will result in a raised line in all pieces struck from that die, no matter how tiny. Thus care must be made in handling, storing and setting up dies in a press not to mar any striking surface. Such die surfaces should be as smooth as possible while retaining all detail in the modulated relief. Proof surface dies are particularly vulnerable to surface scratches.
