Definizione

• Ejector.  A mechanism, or tool, for removing a piece from a die after it has been struck in a press. Coining presses have a kickout pin to eject the struck piece from the collar   – the lower die moves upward pushing the piece free of the restraining collar. A simple spatula-like tool ejects a medal from the lower open face die in a medal press. According to mint historian Denis Cooper, the Italian engineer and clockmaker, Francesco Comelli, was the first to install an ejector in a screw press he constructed in 1786 for the Bologna Mint.
