  • Fake.  A copy of a numismatic or medallic item that is dishonorable, deceitful, fraudulent and/or counterfeit. It also includes those genuine pieces that have been altered to appear as something they are not – spurious alterations. The intent of the fakemaker or forger is to deceive any one and everyone, collector and the public.  See copies and replicas.
