  • French Pin.  A wide pin with two long shafts. It is used for mounting ribboned medals for exhibit which do not have integral pins. It is never used for attaching ribboned medals to garments, uniforms or clothing because of its size, but for exhibition purposes only.  See ribbon fastener.
