Glyptic Öffentlichkeit Deposited

Definition
  • Glyptic.  Literally, carved; the process in sculpture of removing unwanted material leaving the modulated surface forming the desired relief. Glyptic is in contrast to plastic, which means modeled, relief created by adding material (as clay is added to a form). Medallic models can be prepared by either method exclusively, or more commonly, by both methods in the same model.
