Gouge Public Deposited

Definition
  • Gouge.  (2) An unintentional indentation, as a sizeable dent in a numismatic or medallic item. Such a gouge would drastically affect the condition and value of the item. A gouge in a die produces an unwanted raised lump or boss on a piece struck from that die.
