  • Grand Cordon.  A broad ribbon or sash worn over one shoulder that hangs down at the side opposite the shoulder, a badge or decoration hangs from this cloth strip. It is a mark of highest honor, a badge of the highest office, often seen on royalty. A grand cordon is also the person entitled to wear such an award.
