Historical Medal Publique Deposited

Définition
  • Historical Medal.  A medallic item which commemorates some historical event. Historical medals are in contrasted with those medals of purely artistic nature, of award, or those of completely commercial nature (as a card). In effect, any medal with a date on it, whether commemorating a person, place or event, is a historical medal. Since medals are carefully prepared (often near the date it commemorates) it places the commemorated event or person in proper historical order. Also, because of their inherent permanence, medals of the past are ideally suited for documenting the event or person. Historians have frequently quoted medals, their inscriptions and dates, for this reason and their near perfect accuracy.
