- Issue Price. The price at which the issuer or emitter first offers a medallic item for sale to the public. When such a medallic item is still available from the issuer at the price first offered, the medals are still "in-print" (like a book); when the issuer no longer has such items for sale, the issued of medal is "out-of-print" or "out-of-stock." Medals no longer available from the issuer (or primary source) must be obtained from the secondary market – from the original purchaser who for some reason decides to sell, or from dealers who make a market in medals. The price on the secondary market is determined by normal marketplace factors – condition, supply, demand.
