Key Date Publique Deposited
- Key Date. A specimen of particular date and mintmark that is the scarcest or rarest of a series. A collector would consider the key date coin one that would be the most difficult (or expensive) to obtain. Once he has that coin, it should be easy to obtain the remainder of the series. Often called simply "key."
