Laurel Leaf 上市 Deposited

定義
  • Laurel Leaf.  A design element widely used in coin and medal design because of its symbolism of victory, honor, distinction. The leaf (Laurus nobilis) has a simple design with a pointed end and distinctive veins. It was popular when dies were engraved by hand because of the ease of engraving them and their wide recognition. Crowns made of laurel were bestowed upon the victors by the ancient Greeks in the Phthian games, hence its symbolism as victory or fame. A laurel crown is usually expressed medallically as a wreath, or is often shown as being bestowed in wreath form.  See wreaths; also acanthus leaf.
