Lettered Edge Blunder Öffentlichkeit Deposited

Definition
  • Lettered Edge Blunder.  Overlapping or missing edge letters on a coin or medal, their omission or doubling. These errors are formed by the improper use of a roller die, or earlier, on the caneluring or castaing machine. The most common error of overlapping or missing letters is called slippage. Hand engraved edges could also bear lettered edge blunders, but these are so evident in view of the engraver, few slip by. See edge lettering and numbering.
