Definition

• Listed.  A variety of a numismatic item that is published in numismatic literature. A listed variety is one that is known and published. An unlisted variety is one that is unpublished. In the rare occurrence when a variety once published was found to be listed in error it is delisted.
  An artist of a medallic item is sometimes called "listed artist" by some dealers (like antique dealers) who have found the name on the object that has appeared in some biographical book of artists (and that is perhaps the extent of their research). Also, since there are far more medals than those included in numismatic literature, some medals may be called "listed medals."  These are different from a list medal issued by the U.S. Mint.
