Definition

• Longest Dimension.  In measuring plaquettes or irregularly shaped medallic items the longest dimension is from one extremity to the farthest point across the design. This measurement is significant to fit such a design on the appropriate size diestock when engraving or cutting a die. Abbreviated l.d.  See diameter.
