Motif Pubblico Deposited
- Motif. The character or essence of the entire design of a numismatic item, the theme plus the artistic treatment by the artist. As such motif differs from the topic (which is the subject matter), the design which is the plan and execution by the artist) and the device (which is the principle design element). Motif is both the artistic theme and the feeling it conveys to the viewer.
