• Overrun.  In the manufacturing of any medallic item a small number over the required quantity is produced to compensate for any damaged in the process or otherwise rejected. In special instances of limited issues or serial numbering the overrun pieces are destroyed. On issues where exact quantity is not critical the overrun may be stored for possible future use, reorder, manufacturer’s sample, or such.  Shortages in the manufacturing process – or underrun – are usually made up.
